Aging is a natural process, an expected part of the cycle of life. Thus, we use the term “anti-aging,” not as a way to “stop the clock,” but to support your body’s ability to heal and function for as long as you live. And there is a lot that can be done to minimize the deleterious effects of aging. Proper nutrition, good sleep, regular exercise, and mental stimulation all play a role in maintaining quality of life as you age! You can also go a step further and take NAD therapy for “anti-aging” benefits, whether through pills such as REALNAD+ supplements or through NAD injections.
If you are ready to explore your options for NAD therapy, Springfield Wellness Center would be glad to assist you. As leaders in NAD therapy and research, our goal is to provide as many NAD therapy resources as possible to those who can benefit from it–and that’s just about everyone! We have years of experience administering NAD therapy for a variety of mental health and substance use disorders, as well as for general wellness. What Happens When We Age?
It’s easy to recognize the outward signs of aging. The skin starts to dry out and wrinkle, hair turns gray or white, muscles start to shrink, and so on. But what is really going on inside the body that drives these changes? The answer to that question is at the cellular level. As a person grows older, the very structure of their cells begins to change.
Numerous factors play a part in this change. Exposure to sunlight, toxins in the diet, and carcinogens from tobacco are just a few examples of external factors that can negatively affect a person’s cells as they age. The body’s metabolism also produces byproducts that may damage the cells over time.
One of the main parts of the cell is the mitochondria, which help turn the energy from food into energy that the cell can use. Damage to the cells can decrease the effectiveness of the mitochondria. This reduces the amount of energy the cells have to repair themselves, communicate with other cells, and clear out dead or damaged cells.
What is NAD Therapy?
While other anti-aging therapies may help counteract the visible effects of aging, NAD therapy aims to address the damage at a cellular level. NAD is naturally present in all of a human being’s cells, and it plays a large role in the cellular processes that convert food to energy and repair the DNA. As a person ages, the levels of NAD in their body naturally drop, to about 50% of the peak amount. This means that the body becomes less able to repair cells and produce energy.
The goal of NAD therapy is to restore the optimal amount of NAD in the body. Some of the benefits of NAD therapy include:
- Boosted energy levels
- Increased muscle strength and recovery
- Improved cardiovascular function
- Reduced blood pressure
- Protection of mitochondria
- Improved mental ability
- Increased elasticity of skin
Can You Use NAD Therapy for Anti-Aging?
Yes, NAD therapy can be used for anti-aging purposes. Simply by looking at the benefits listed above, it’s easy to see that NAD therapy can achieve what most other therapies promise, and more. People can also use NAD therapy to treat specific neurodegenerative diseases, or to assist in detoxing from drugs or alcohol.
